July 4, 2010 - Waiting for Fireworks

We decided to try out the local fireworks.  We'd heard that you needed to get to Wills Park early to get a spot, but by the time we got there, the park was already closed.  We'd stopped for sandwiches and drinks at Publix to have a makeshift picnic.  We ended up parking at a store and finding some grass to spread our blankets on.  There were probably a million beetles in the grass and the extended gamily who showed up next to us started encroaching on our space.  They sure did have a nice spread - tons of food, tables with lace tablecloths - it was out of control.  Of, course, when firework time came, there was a HUGE tree blocking our view, so we had to quickly move down the road a bit for a better view.  It ended up being a very nice night.

July 4, 2010 - Tuxford Parade

I am very pleased to announce our 1st place win for the 3rd year in a row!  Yes, I know we can be competitive, but it can't be helped.  This years theme was firemen and Dalmatians.  We modeled out fire truck off the off the old fashioned red ones ... not the white ones that they have here in GA.  It just didn't seem right.  Dawn & I spent a good amount of time working on our float --- taping up the cardboard, painting the design, trying to get the paint to stick over the tape.  And of course, working on our awesome costumes.  Anderson & Zoey were our most excellent firemen - even the real firemen loved them, and Dawn & I were the Dalmatians.  We did contemplate having some puppies, but this is a family friendly neighborhood, so we decided not to.

July 2, 2010 - Braves Game

We decided to brave the heat, and go to the Braves game (pun intended).  Josh's parents were in town for a visit and I think the 5 of us were partially melted.  Okay, I know I was, but I am guessing about the others. Zoey wore her new Red Sox shirt, because anytime we can, we do.  We were hoping to see the fireworks after the game, but it went into overtime and it was pretty late since it was a Friday night game, so we decided to pack it in and go home.

June 12, 2010 - Storytime Live!

We thought it would be a great idea to surprise Zoey with a Trip to Nick Jr.'s Storytime Live! at the Fox Theater.  Last year we saw Dora Live! and Zoey absolutely loved it.  However, this sure did backfire on us.  Zoey had seen the commercials and knew there was a witch in the show. For some reason Zoey is very afraid of certain things right now, and this was one of them.  Luckily Dora came on last, and that's where the witch was, so we were able to stay for 3/4 of the show.  However Zoey had to sit on my lap the entire time and I had to cover her eyes for any scary parts

May 22, 2010 - Tuxford May Day Cookout

We had our annual May Day cookout in the neighborhood.  It's a great event in the neighborhood when the pool first opens and everyone can reconnect after being housebound over the winter

End of the School Year

On May 21, 2010, Zoey's school had an end of the school year/getting ready for Pre-K party.  All the kids got to wear school t-shirts and enjoy a party with their class

Zoey's 1st Dance Recital

Okay, so I am behind the times, but I plan on staying up to date (so I say today with only one kid to contend with!)

Zoey had her very first dance recital on May 17, 2010.  The performance was held at her school, Appletree ABC and she did awesome!  They girls did a series of dances in both tap & ballet.  They all looked absolutely adorable and Josh & I were both so proud.

Our New Addition

The Jacobs family will be expanding this Fall with a new little baby.  We are eagerly looking forward to getting to meet the person responsible for all the kicking.  Zoey is fully expecting a girl to "pop" out (as she likes to phrase it), so we'll just have to wait and see what we have.  This new addition is due on October 27, 2010.

Things has been a little hectic with this baby vs. Zoey.  I have pre-existing hypertension, which is being monitored and controlled by meds (didn't need any the last time), and Gestation Diabetes for which I am taking Glyburide twice a day (it was managed with diet alone the last time) oh, and the baby's kidney's are dilated.  This means that in addition to seeing my regular OB/GYN, I now see the Perinatal doc.  The upside to that is we get a sonogram each month, going to bi-weekly, then weekly as the time closes in on us.  With my age and other medical conditions, this makes me high risk.  Thank goodness we have been down graded to a minor situation, so that makes me feel a lot better.

Welcome!

This is our new adventure into Blogging as a way to stay in touch with all our family and friends who live far away (or more like we live far away from them!).

Our family is Michele (mom), Josh (dad), Zoey (future big sister) and our yet to be named new addition who is due out on or around October 27, 2010.

We hope that you will check in and see what our family has been up to.

Thanks!
