Baby Update

At this point in the game, I am going to the doctor's twice a week.  At the beginning of the week, I see my OB and get a non-stress test (NST).  Basically I get to sit in a comfy chair and I am hooked up to the monitor so that the doctors and see the bay's heart rate.  Oh, and I get this super cool clicker thing that I push every time that the baby moves.  This way they can make sure the baby's movements are on target for where we are in the development stage.

At the end of the week I see the Perinatal doctor where I get my weekly sonogram.  The baby is really starting to look like a person now ... and I am getting really good and ready those grainy black & white images.  The ultrasound tech measures the baby every other week so that we have an idea of how big the baby is getting.  As of Friday, 9/24/10, the baby is weighing in at 6 lbs 4 oz.  As a point of reference, Zoey was 6 lbs 3 oz when she was born.  If this baby keeps gaining weight like it has been, this will be one big baby - yikes!

September 18, 2010 - Michele's "Sprinkle"

Two of my friends, Dawn & Anne, threw me a Sprinkle - evidently that is what you call a 2nd time around Shower.  Several of my friends came to celebrate this new addition to our family.  We all enjoyed some yummy food and some good company.

September 12, 2010 - Patriots Football

Josh and Zoey got all geared up for the Patriot's game.  They were all decked out in the jerserys and ready for a great time together

August 29, 2010 - Baby & Me Class

We signed Zoey for a Baby & Me class at Northside Hospital where she was born and where the new baby will also be born.  This is a class for big brothers and big sisters to learn some basics about babies in general and to get a chance to check out where mommy will be when she is having the baby.

The teacher, Ms. Sue, started with some classroom activities.  All the little kids (all girls in this particular class) got a chance to introduce themselves and tell what they knew about their new sibling.  We were the only family that didn't know what they were having!  Ms. Sue showed the girls how to hold a baby, using a doll, and to support the neck.  How to change a diaper and fold up the soiled one for the trash ... Zoey did great with this so I am hoping for a great helper in the upcoming weeks.  They also learned how to swaddle the baby.

After the classroom activities, we took a short tour of the hospital.  We went by the nursery and luckily there were some babies for the girls to ooohh and aaahh over.  Then we got to see an empty room like one that the mom's will stay in.  Josh & I lingered in the hall since we already delivered at this hospital.  Zoey cam out all excited for me because I will be able to eat in bed.  How cool is that?  She asked me.

August 23, 2010 - Zoey's First Day of Pre-K

Monday, August 23rd was Zoey's first day in the GA Pre-K program.  She woke up all excited to start her day in the Tigger classroom with Ms. Andrea and Ms. Angel.  This is a state lottery funded pre-K program, so we had moved Zoey from the daycare she'd been at since she was 8-weeks old to a new one.  This was a super hard thing for me to do, but luckily Zoey adjusted just fine and loves the kids and teachers at Appletree ABC.  This is an exciting year; the kids will be following the "regular" school calendar and getting prepared to start Kindergarten next fall.

August 14, 2010 - Last Day of Swim Lessons

This summer we signed Zoey up for swim lessons at Dynamo Swim (against her wishes, I might add).  For some reason this year Zoey was terrified of the water, where at the end of last summer she was jumping off the starting blocks all by herself.  This was a super basic class, but Zoey learned things like putting her face in the water and blowing bubbles.  Jumping off the side, and floating on her back.  By the end, Zoey was able to actually swim!  She pushes off the side and swims with her face in the water.  We were so very proud of how far she came this summer.  We fully intend on taking lessons again in the spring to get her ready for another fun summer at the pool.

August 14, 2010 - Touch A Truck

We went to the Alpharetta Touch A Truck even with the Agueros family.  I was an ugly drizzly day, but apparently this event is such a hit, because it was packed.  This was our first year going so we didn't know what to expect.  The kids got to see, touch and explore all sorts of vehicles.  An ambulance, fire truck, moving truck, and so many more.  I think the kids really enjoyed being able to go on all these things.

August 3, 2010 - Zoey's (actual) Birthday

We celebrated Zoey's actual birthday with a yummy dinner at home and a mini-party and cupcakes.  We opened presents and Nana & Bubba were able to join us via web-cam.  Got to love modern technology!

August 3, 2010 - Helen, GA

Following Zoey's 4 year old check up, where she was subjected to 5 shots (yikes!), we spent the day in Helen, GA.  This is a fun Bavarian town north of Atlanta in the mountains.  There are tons of cute shops to explore, lots of restaurants and some great local wines to taste.  Sadly I had to buy a bottle and save it for after the baby come.  The Chattahoochie River runs through Helen and you can tube down.  I'm hoping that next year Zoey will be old enough to do this.  It's so fun and relaxing, and nice and cool on a hot August day.  You can watch people tubing and you get jealous that you are sweating out in the sun.

August 1, 2010 - American Girl

We had our annual lunch at the American Girl Bistro with my mom and sister, Danielle.  Zoey loves being able to dress up her doll, Bella, and the fact that Bella gets served a muffin or cookie ... which of course Zoey gets to eat at the end of the meal.  That Bella has no appetite!  It's such a fun girly time that we enjoy doing year after year.

July 31, 2010 - Zoey's Birthday Party

We celebrated Zoey's 4th birthday with a fun at home party.  Okay, sort of fun, sort of a lot of work.  Josh has put his foot down and is insisting that next year we go some place fun and air conditioned.

Some of Zoey's school friends and neighborhood friends came to celebrate and have some fun in the sprinkler.  Luckily we'd checked the weather beforehand, so we were prepared when the rain storm came.  The good thing was that the kids had a chance to run around outside & through the sprinkler so they were able to burn some energy.  After food and cake the kids had a blast making all sorts of play-do creations.

I think Zoey had a great time and in the end that is all that matters.

July 5, 2010

We took a ride down to Pine Mountain, GA to do some fun touristy stuff.  The first thing we did was take a ride through the Wild Animal Safari.  If you ever go, we highly recommend spending the $10 to rent one of their vehicles.  Those animals are nasty!  What you do is buy some food pellets and then drive through the safari.  The animals totally know what to do.  They swarm your car when your first drive in and stick their heads into the window so that you can feed them.  These animals have no shame, they get right in there and practically demand to be fed.  Surprisingly enough, Zoey had a really good time throwing the food to the animals vs. actually putting it in their mounts.  Not that I blame her ... they were super slobbery!

Just Venting

Ever feel like you are spinning your wheels and getting no where?  I had all these great intentions on getting caught up (or as close as I can) on this blog.  Sadly, I went to upload the pictures from my camera (all the way back to July) and the stupid camera battery is dead.  There goes that brilliant idea for the night. Oh, well, what's a working mom to do?  Try again later I guess.
