Sorry for the delay in postings, but Michele and I were feeding Riley this morning and having to go home due to Michele being healthy and all (darn that vile woman). We have now fed Riley a couple of times - last night and then this mornings 8am feeding - and she has done wonderful. Michele even got to give Riley her first breast feeding - it being Riley's first go, she didn't do more then latch on a couple of times, but it was good progress. Especially because the next pumping that Michele did following that, we were able to get some milk to bring to the hospital.
Riley is doing so well with her O2 and keeping food down that they are moving her up from 20cc of food to 30cc for the next 4 feedings. If she takes all those with no significant throwing up (that is when it is more then normal baby spit up - which to me is significant, it stinks, it gets everywhere....ugh) then they will take her off IV fluid completely. They will also move her up to 40cc of food.
Riley Rose will be getting another sonogram of her heart tomorrow morning to see if anything is different from the original. We are hoping that everything is the same and there is no significant strain or abnormality (you know besides not having part of her lower ventricle wall or anything) from the first. Due to her progress the nurses do not believe that anything would be different as normally if there are issues, she would not progress, but regress. If there are issues we may have to have surgery earlier then the 4 months, but we will cross that proverbial artery when we come to it.
I am at the hospital now so that I can feed the little flower her 2pm feeding and keep her company. Mommy and grandpa jim are spending some good time with Zoey. Everyone has been sending such wonderful notes and well wishes and Michele, Zoey and I couldn't be more thankful. Our Georgia friends have been non-stop in their insistance of helping us - Michele and I have always thought that we had been able to establish a wonderful extended family down here, but we never realized the incredible strength and warmth of so many people surrounded us. I hope that they all know that our family will spend the rest of our days trying to repay their kindness and love.
